Vince Mazzocchi met Chad Marshall when they were both working at the same hotel in Scottsdale, Arizona. Vince was doing a lot of talking about whatever the current incarnation of his band was, when Chad mentioned that he played a little guitar, but wasn't playing in a band or actively involved in music. Now, everyone knows at least fifty people who are either in a band or "play guitar". More often than not, that means they either play in a somewhat horrible band or they can claw out a couple of reasonably awful cover tunes on a beat up acoustic while their audience humors them. Following standard procedure, Vince immediately put Chad into that category, but being a good sport, Vince invited him to a band rehearsal to sit in some time. After Chad accepted, Vince spent some time figuring out how he was going to face Chad after he came out, couldn't keep up, and embarrassed himself.
Fast forward to the end of that particular rehearsal. By this time, Vince had already had his ass handed to him, musically speaking, and realized that his low key hotel co-worker was roughly twice the guitar player he would ever be. From that moment on Vince made it his personal mission to persuade Chad to get involved in music again, because he considered it an injustice that someone so talented wasn't out there sharing his gift when so many relatively untalented people were. When a position for a bass player opened up in Vince's band, Chad agreed to fill the spot. Eventually they both left that band and formed their own, with each in his rightful position; Chad on lead guitar and Vince on vocals and rhythm guitar.
On the "Arrows" project, Chad has shown that his talents as a producer equal or even exceed his considerable talents on the guitar. He has a knack for knowing when a particular production technique will elevate a song, and uses the things he learns in new and creative ways. On "Arrows", Chad has done some truly impressive work. He has fully realized the vision within each of these modest little acoustic songs, and it is always exciting to hear what he'll do next.
Vince Mazzocchi
Vince Mazzocchi started his musical journey with dreams of playing guitar solos to sold out arenas. To that end, he studied hard in private lessons and devoted countless hours of focused practice. After playing in a series of local Arizona bands, it became clear to him that he might not be destined for guitar stardom, after all. For some reason, he felt much more at home in front of a microphone than playing a guitar solo, and he'd begun to yearn to unlock the secrets of writing a truly great song that could connect with audiences on an emotional level.
As he was honing his songwriting skills, Vince came across the perfect collaboration partner in Chad Marshall. After playing in a couple of bands together, they ended up in separate states and out of their local music scenes, but they kept in touch and always seemed to see eye to eye when it came to music.
They both also happened to be technologically savvy enough to see that a remote collaboration might just work. Since neither of them was in a position to move, they decided to give it a shot.
The "Arrows" project has been the culmination of Vince's transformation from guitar player to singer/songwriter. In addition, he continues to develop the skills in mastering production that have added the finishing touch to the tunes.
